Commentary | Illustration with elements of two different chapters:
From chapter 16:1, don Quixote, on Sancho's donkey and followed by Rocinante, arrives to Juan Palomeque's inn; the figure of the innkeeper is a laborer from the Ampurdán; the smoke from the inn chimney turns into a rich palace (as imagined by don Quixote). From chapter 18:1, don Quixote (his empty wooden head with a sheep instead of brain and some beans) observes a flock of sheep; the dust clouds turn into two armies (Pentapolín's and Alifanfarón's). |
