Commentary | Johannot has divided a well-known scene since Coypel (Paris: Surugue, 1724) in two different illustrations; this, with the dramatic action, is the first one: don Quixote, the Duke and Duchess hunting the wild boar.
See Duke and Duchess' gestures; accurate to Cervantes' text: "a todos se adelantara la duquesa, si el duque no se lo estorbara" (34:2). |
Notes | 1 - Same illus. reproduced after Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37. |
