Commentary At the Duke's palace, during a meal with the Duke and the Duchess, don Quixote stands up to respond to an ecclesiastic; they argue about chivalry books.
In the foreground, Sancho observing the scene.
The scene has been resolved with realism (setting, clothes...) but the result is theatrical (curtain, don Quixote's expression...).
Good illustration for a children's edition.
Notes 1 - Same illustration used for the front cover.
2 - Wrongly placed in chapter XVI (33:2); according to the "List of Illustrations", it should be placed f.p. 108 in chapter XV (32:2).
