| Commentary | Don Quixote and Sancho encounter a cart adorned with flags that carries a pair of lions; don Quixote orders the lionkeeper to open the cage to fight with the lion.
Original choice; this instant of the episode has been less represented than the next one (don Quixote ready to fight with the lion; also illustrated in this edition). Don Diego de Miranda doesn't appear in the illustration because in this abridged edition don Diego's story has not been included. Simple caricature/sketching style. |
