Commentary | Don Quixote mounted on Rocinante followed by Sancho on his donkey; both with expressions of surprise or looking attentively at something.
Above them, a female figure as flying and guiding them or pointing to what (not represented) they are looking at. Image of remarkable personal style influenced by some of the main European Art movements during the 1930s, as late Expressionism and Surrealism; the image loses realism to become more expressive, but also oniric, evocative and suggestive (who is that female figure? don Quixote's madness?). |
