Commentary | Previously-represented scene, but now with marked German realism.
Don Quixote catches the goatherd by his neck, while Sancho pulls from him and one of the officers pushes don Quixote towards the goatherd maliciously. The priest, the barber, the officers and the canon of Toledo observe them; also the goat. The realism is remarkable; almost grotesque, very expressive (see don Quixote's, Sancho's and the goatherd's faces). Excellent drawing and engraving. |
