Commentary Don Quixote dialogues with the members of the braying mayors squadron; Sancho remains in the background.
Scene represented in England since Vanderbank (London: Tonson, 1738; in this case, Sancho appears braying).
Illustration in keeping with 18th century English liking for scenes about dialogue, without violence.
As a whole, drawing and engraving are good, but the inking and printing process has been deficient.
Notes 1 - Plate IV according to the order of publishing (March 30, 1782), not the chapter order.
2 - All the plates with the same Empire style frame; good decorative effect.
3 - This illustration was copied (newly engraved with less quality) in London: F. and C. Rivington, 1792.
