Commentary After getting married with don Fernando, Luscinda faints and don Fernando discovers a letter and a dagger hidden in her dress; "Alborotáronse todos con el desmayo de Luscinda, y desabrochándole su madre el pecho para que le diese el aire, se descubrió un papel cerrado, que D. Fernando tomó luego" (27:1).
Lalauze has set the scene in a very detailed cathedral, but it should be Luscinda's house.
Excellent drawing and engraving; remarkable representation of gestures and expressions.
Notes 1 - Same plate first engraved for Edinburgh: William Paterson, 1879-84.
