| Commentary | Don Quixote, tied to a rope held by Sancho and the bachelor's cousin, descends into Montesinos' cave.
Well-known scene, but Houghton's composition, combining the outside and inside of the cave, is quite interesting and original; don Quixote's figure results very comical. Drawing and engraving are excellent; notice the figures and gestures of Sancho and the cousin. |
