Commentary | A servant arrives with a letter from the Duke; Sancho, sat by an almost empty table because of Pedro Recio, asks for his secretary to read it. Accurate to Cervantes' text: "¿quién es aquí mi secretario? Y uno de los que estaban, respondió: yo, señor, porque sé leer y escribir, y soy vizcaino" (47:2). The secretary raises his hand up; the steward and the carver.
Theatrical composition, with a curtain in the background. |
Notes | It includes reference "P. 74". |
