Commentary | Sancho fights and defeats don Quixote because the knight had tried to whip him while he was asleep.
In the background, the legs of a hanged man. Good drawing and engraving; notice the expressions and gestures of both characters. In an ornamental and architectural frame with knight-errant's arms (sword, helmet, lance...), whip and enchanter's objects (broken wand, book...); the whole illustration has got a remarkable decorative effect. |
