Commentary | Original choice. Dulcinea, angry, reproaches Sancho (in the center) for not wanting to whip himself; they are the two main characters. Surrounding them, don Quixote (center background), the Duke and the Duchess (right).
Dulcinea has been represented as a real woman, but, in fact, "she" was a male page disguised. |
