Commentary Don Quixote, completely armed and mounted on Rocinante, leaves his house; caconical image of don Quixote's first sally.
Don Quixote's figure results serious, but also comical (ridiculous feathers on his helmet).
Picturesque and detailed setting; notice that a peacock has been included on the right, quite decorative.
Notes 1 - Same illustration first published in Stuttgart: K. Thienemanns, c. 1896.
2 - Poor process reproduction.
