Commentary | Well-known scene; the Duchess' maidens wash don Quixote's beard while the Duke, the Duchess and Sancho observe him.
A neoclassical atmosphere predominates over the illustration (see female figure on the right); this classical sense (calm figures) makes the illustration lose humourousness. Excellent burin engraving; clear and precise lines; clean illustration. |
