Commentary In the whole composition, the two shepherdesses, richly dressed, have been highlighted; their white dresses stand out over the dark background, where don Quixote and Sancho are almost hidden.
Painter and engraver have recreated their dresses in a very remarkable and higly-detailed way.
The gestures of the shepherdesses are theatrical, but good.
Notes 1 - Same plate first engraved for London: William Miller, 1801.
