Commentary | Well-known scene, but the composition is of great novelty. In the foreground, Sancho, with his back turned on the viewer and almost as a shadow, gesticulates to stop don Quixote; in the background, don Quixote attacking the sheep and surrounded by shepherds prepared to stone him.
Some picturesque details: in the left foreground, the donkey eats herb its own way. Excellent engraving in shading (see dust cloud, Sancho Panza and figures in the background). |
