Commentary | This is not the first representation of this scene, but Smirke's style makes it very interesting.
In the foreground, Sancho Panza embraces his donkey, while don Quixote observes him. In the background, Dorotea (Micomicona), the barber, the priest and Cardenio. Figures of Sancho and his donkey are remarkable, very realistic (see Sancho's happy face). |
