Commentary Well-known image of don Quixote on Rocinante and Sancho on his donkey leaving their village.
According to Cervantes' text, Sancho takes the bray of his donkey and the neigh of Rocinante as good omens; because the donkey brays more than Rocinante, Sancho considers that he will have more luck than don Quixote.
Figures of excellent drawing and engraving,
Notes 1 - In Madrid: Ibarra, 1780, we find a similar image, but for the second sally.
2 – Newly-engraved by J. Phillibrown for London: Charles Daly, c. 1830.
