Commentary | Composition with little novelty in comparison with Coypel's (Paris: Surugue, 1724), who typified this scene. Sancho keels down before the Duchess, riding a white horse and holding a goshawk, while he points to don Quixote (in the background).
This print, because of its drawing, engraving, details and shading, is excellent (only Rocinante's figure appears lightly disproportionated). Duchess and maiden's figures of great beauty. |
