Commentary | In the foreground, the Knight of the White Moon (Sansón Carrasco) aiming his sword against don Quixote, who lies on the ground (Barcelona beach) while Sancho, knelt down, begs him not to injure don Quixote.
In the background, don Antonio and the viceroy. The Knight of the White Moon and don Quixote has been represented as real knights; notice the castle too. Well-known scene since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657). Excellent drawing and engraving; the figure of the Knight of the White Moon is remarkable. |
