Commentary | Balanced composition: on the left, don Quixote sat on his bed; on the right, the group of the priest (sat), the barber, the housekeeper and the niece.
Good variety of gestures and expressions, well drawn and engraved. Don Quixote's mad words ("Caballero andante he de morir, y baje o suba el Turco cuando él quisiere y cuan poderosamente pudiere", 1:1) make the barber smile and the housekeeper and the niece get frightened; the priest looks at don Quixote with patience. Remarkable engraving (see fine burin lines in don Quixote's shirt and sheets). |
