Illustrations: Contains five chapter illustrations designed and etched by Adolf Schrödter (Mit fünf Originalradierungen von A. Schroedter). The copy is complete; this edition did not include the sixth illustration "Abenteuer mit der asturischen Magd" (Adventure with the Asturian maiden; Maritornes). All the illustrations are dated in 1843. The set of six prints first appeared in an illustrated wrapper in Altona/Leipzig: G. Mayer (printed in Leipzig by G. Kreysing), 1863. Also as lithographs in Stuttgart: J. Hoffman, c. 1875. Givanel refers to eight illus., but it must be a mistake; he also refers to a lithograph published in 1834, but it should be 1843.
