Illustrations: The edition includes a portrait of Cervantes (photographical reproduction of Juan de Jáuregui's painting) and 219 illustrations designed by Berthold Mahn. It has five illustrated title pages (one for vol. 0 and one for volumes I-IV), a frontispiece, 126 headpieces, 43 chapter illustrations (35 in black and white and eight in color) and 44 tailpieces. It also contains a map (facsimile after Madrid: Ibarra, 1780), 15 facsimile documents about Cervantes' life and a letter by Berthold Mahn from Spain (Manzanares, October 10th, 1933). The designs and the documents were reproduced in facsimile by Daniel Jacomet.
Description: Vol. 0 contains a biography of Cervantes by Mariano Tomas and includes 15 documents. Cushing's copy number 2.311 of 5.850 (numbered from 1.151 to 7.000) on velin chiffon paper.

(Madrid: Andrés García de la Iglesia, 1674) were copied such as Madrid: Pimentel, 1730; Barcelona: Juan Jolis, 1755 (and 1762); or Madrid: Manuel Martín, 1782. They follow the tradition of Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657 and later editions) and Bouttats (Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73). All appear unsigned, but the engraver may be Germán Viader. Also with decorated covers, two decorated title pages, 17 capital letters and six headpieces, ex-libris of Ramón Areny, and two colophons, all in color.
