Description: First edition. The original "appeared in Ackermann’s Poetical Magazine, 1809-1811, with the title, The Schoolmaster’s tour", and was then published in several parts in London, 1812. Rare poem after Cervantes´ Quixote, written to satirize the romantic literature of travel.

Description: The notes are from the RAE, Bowle and Pellicer's editions. Same text as Edinburgh: Constable, 1822.

Illustrations: This is a set of six plates, originaly designed and engraved by William Hogarth for Tonson´s 1738 edition, with descriptions in English later added under Dodsley's direction, and now restored by James Heath. Reprinted in London: Baldwin and Cradock [1835-37].
Description: Hogarth's rejected illustrations for the Lord Carteret edition (Londres: J. y R. Tonson, 1738). The original plates were bought by J. Dodsley after Tonson´s death, later by Messrs. Boydell, and after them by Sayer. The Heath edition was the last to print directly from Hogarth's original engraved plates. All 'Hogarth' prints appearing after this date are merely copies with either a recut plate or the 'engravers version.' Ashbee cites only a 1835 edition.

This copy has been extra-illustrated with a portrait of Cervantes designed by Achille Jacques Jean Devéria and engraved by Lefêvre Jne. for Paris: Delongchamps, 1825. One illustration (DQ at his library) is designed by Richard Parkes Bonington and engraved by Samuel Sangster for Le Keepsake Français (Paris/London: Giraldon-Bovinet & Co./Whittaker & Co., 1831), and ten illustrations and vignettes are designed by Robert Smirke and engraved by James Fittler (1), James Heath (2), James Mitan (1) and Charles Turner Warren (1) (the 5 vignettes are unsigned) for London: Cadell & Davies, 1818.

Illustrations: 24 chapter illustrations by George Cruikshank engraved (wood engravings) by Sears and William Hughes. It also has a vignette engraved by W. O. Knight (repeated in each title page) and a Cervantes' portrait engraved by B. Lane. These illustrations were reprinted for the London: Jones & Co, 1828 and the 1831 editions. Cushing's copy has two title pages: the one of Knight & Lacey is dated at 1824 and the one of Jones & Co., undated. Ashbee states that "they are of not great merit".
